Не копирование, а точный перевод. Перевод определенных слов - не проблема. Я потратил час из-за грамматики. Я бы не хотел общаться на уровне: моя твоя не понимай...

он подумал: ладно, пусть участвуют! Потом он похлопал деда по плечу и подмигнул бабке. Наконец-то наши герои были готовы участвовать в фестивале...

позволю себе пару замечаний (раз уж тут изучаем английский):

he has thought - это present perfect, настоящее совершенное время, обозначает только что завершившееся действие. Так как мы ведем речь о событиях прошлого в форме рассказа, корректнее использовать время past simle и будет просто he thought.
in a festival не "a", а "the" - так как речь уже об определенном фестивале, и артикль определенный должен быть.
